Buying Guide: How to Choose the Best Lapboard for PS5
Keep these factors in mind when shopping for the best lapboard for ps5.
Dedicated gaming lapboards are rare
Several well-known gaming lapboards have been discontinued, so most couch gamers now use a large lap desk with a mouse pad surface plus a compatible wireless keyboard and mouse.
Native keyboard and mouse support on consoles
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S both accept USB and many wireless keyboards and mice, but only games that add support will use them. Popular shooters such as Fortnite and Call of Duty support keyboard and mouse natively, so you may not need an adapter at all.
Wireless range on the couch
Most 2.4GHz receivers work up to about 10 meters, but walls and metal can cut range. Use a USB extension cable to bring the receiver closer to the couch.
Lapboard size and mouse space
Measure your keyboard. A tenkeyless keyboard plus mouse needs roughly 24 inches of width; a full-size board needs more. Compact 60% or 75% keyboards fit smaller lap desks.
PS5 Couch Tips
Better couch play:
- Use the front USB port.
- Add a USB extension.
- Enable KBM in each game.
- Keep a DualSense for menus.
