Buying Guide: How to Choose the Best Keyboard and Mouse Adapter for PS5
Keep these factors in mind when shopping for the best keyboard and mouse adapter for ps5.
Native keyboard and mouse support on consoles
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S both accept USB and many wireless keyboards and mice, but only games that add support will use them. Popular shooters such as Fortnite and Call of Duty support keyboard and mouse natively, so you may not need an adapter at all.
How keyboard and mouse adapters work
Adapters such as XIM translate mouse movement into controller stick input for games without native support. They take tuning to feel right, and some games and tournaments treat them as unfair, so check each game’s rules before using one.
Fair play and account risk
Some games and tournaments ban input converters. Read each game’s rules; using an adapter where it is not allowed can risk penalties.
Mouse sensor and DPI
Most players use 800 to 3200 DPI, so a huge DPI number matters less than a consistent sensor, a comfortable shape and good switches. Lighter mice help fast aim in shooters.
Wired vs. wireless adapters
Wired adapters plug straight into the console and add the least delay. Wireless or Remote Play-based converters are more flexible but can add latency, so test them in practice modes before ranked play.
Adapter Setup Tips
If you use one:
- Update firmware first.
- Start with recommended configs.
- Lower sensitivity, then tune.
- Respect game rules.
