Buying Guide: How to Choose the Best Gaming Chair Casters
Keep these factors in mind when shopping for the best gaming chair casters.
Check the stem size
Most office and gaming chairs use a 7/16 x 7/8 inch (11 x 22 mm) grip-ring stem. A few use larger stems, so pull one caster out and measure before ordering.
Rollerblade casters and floors
Soft polyurethane rollerblade-style wheels roll quietly and are gentle on hardwood. On thick carpet, larger wheels roll more easily.
Weight capacity
Heavy gaming chairs and big users benefit from casters rated for higher loads. Check the total rating across all five wheels.
How to swap casters
Tip the chair on its side and pull each caster straight out; a flat screwdriver can help pry stubborn ones. Push the new casters in until they click.
Caster Care Tips
Keep wheels rolling smoothly:
- Pull hair out of the wheels monthly.
- Check stems are fully seated.
- Use larger wheels on carpet.
- Replace cracked wheels promptly.
